Conference Agenda

The Conference Agenda is filled with beneficial sessions to help our offices grow and prosper to deliver our mission of granting children in their area a limitless future!

Our aim is to host a Conference that will exceed your expectations and showcase the very best Quebec City has to offer.

Dear Chief Barkers, Board Directors, Regional & Advisory Council members and CEOs/EDs

Variety International's primary goal is to ensure that Tents around the World are sustainable, effective, growing and assisting as many children as possible in their geographic area.  The Variety World Conference is a vital part of ensuring the success of all of our Tents.

Thank you to all of those who have already registered to attend the 2019 Conference,  I wanted to share with the whole Variety family a summary of the exciting and beneficial program that we have organised for the 2019 Variety World Conference to be held in Quebec City from 8 to 10 May 2019.

As you will note from the footnote to this email, our 2019 Conference theme is "Building Children's futures - to infinity and beyond" and the focus of the 3 day Conference, hosted by one of our newer Tents Variety Quebec, is on building growth and sustainability through to our Centenary in 2028, a focus based on innovation, sharing of ideas, communicating within our organisation and having a lot of fun together as we jointly map our pathway to 2028.

Built around feedback and the survey results from our Tents, the program is relevant and engaging.

On Day 1, we are running a sustainability and diversity panel session, where we will hear from 3 Tents on their innovative sustainability programs - plenty of lessons for all here.  We then have the first round of Heart Award presentations, followed by two key meetings in parallel sessions - Chief Barkers/Board members and CEOs/EDs.  The afternoon is rounded out by a critical look at our future as a World class children's charity through a session titled 'Variety 2028' - this is an important session for every Tent worldwide and will be followed by a facilitated discussion among delegates.  That evening we have the Welcome Reception  - Quebec Cheese, Wine & Beer festival!

Day 2 starts with a stimulating presentation on changing mindsets - how do we as an organisation, and how do we as Tents, focus on growth and sustainability, then our attention turns to how Tents can build on their existing Brand awareness, reach and value. The session ends with a Tent case presentation on the value to be achieved through an aggressive, carefully structured approach to digital marketing and the tangible value that can be achieved. The second and third Heart Award presentations follow - each of the Heart Award presentations are sure to be full of new ideas in both fundraising and programs. Our four Regional meetings this afternoon provide a great opportunity to learn about what is happening in Tents within your Region. We wind our afternoon session out with a presentation and discussion on crisis management.  That evening we have the Heart & Grant Awards Dinner at La Chapelle, followed by Variety's 91st Birthday Party - a big night assured!!!

We start Day 3 with a presentation and workshop on inclusive play for kids - a meeting of the Advisory Council (where we hope to see most of our former International Presidents attending) will take place at the same time.  Then a real highlight will be a fascinating presentation from 6 of our Tents from across the World, in a session called 'My Tent 2028', exploring what might be possible for a Tent to achieve by our Centenary - hopefully reaching out to thousands more kids in need every year by 2028.  The Variety AGM follows in the afternoon with the International President's presentation, the Finance report, election of Board members and International President, who will address delegates.  There will then be an opportunity for a Q&A session with the incoming Board, and finally, a Conference wrap. On this the final evening, the Black Tie Humanitarian Awards Dinner will be held at the glittering La Salle Ballroom - a wonderful finale to an exciting, action packed 3 days for our Variety global family.

I do sincerely hope that every Tent will make an effort to participate in this important Variety World Conference, where our focus will be very much on the future, how we can grow our amazing charity and reach out to so many more kids in need in every existing and new Tent area around the World.  There will be a range of quality information to assist your Tent in your future strategic planning.  This is our opportunity to start the process of working together towards our Centenary to make Variety one of the truly great children's charities on the global stage, recognized and acclaimed worldwide for its achievements.

Please come join us from 8 to 10 May 2019, enjoy the wonderful hospitality of Variety Quebec and be part of developing Variety's BIG future - details at

With best regards
